A commitment to climate-friendly practices is at the core of everything we do. To limit our environmental impact, we believe in, and practice, our own unique, sustainable way of farming.
This includes growing our own feed in our own fields, raising our own animals, producing our own meat, and generating green energy and heat with manure and crop waste in our own biogas plants. That is how we ensure we work with, rather than against, our environment.
Our work for a better tomorrow focuses on further developing and expanding our unique production model that centres around sustainable food production. Key to this strategy is the production of green heat and electricity from our biogas plants.
In Goodvalley, biogas serves a number of purposes; we use the heat to warm our farms, the electricity for power and we sell any excess to the public grid in surrounding villages. We store the fermented biomass in a digestion tank and use it later to fertilize our fields, where we grow crops for our animals to eat. This is how we create a sustainable cycle.
Our first biogas plant commenced operation in Poland in 2005. Today, we have nine biogas facilities that produce enough green heat and electricity to run the equivalent of 12,950 households on a yearly basis – and we have three more biogas plants on the way together with external partners.
In Goodvalley sustainable practices are at the core of everything we do.
For maintaining a carbon neutral profile for our entire Polish production process, we have received a carbon neutrality certificate from NIRAS, verified by the German TÜV Rheinland since 2013. In 2018 we were certified and verified in the entire organisation for the first time.
We won a Transformational Business Award in London, in the Optimal Project Financing category. The awards are held by the Financial Times and the IFC.
We also cooperate with institutions and organizations involved in renewable energy, as well as scientific and research centres in Polish and Danish universities to promote and develop renewable energy sources.
We monitor the levels of noise, gas emissions and dust at our sites, and any waste we produce. Results show our operation is having a beneficial effect on the environment every year.
For special occasions we give employees tree seedlings and plants as gifts.
We carry out environmental monitoring, including groundwater studies of the farms and waterways where we operate.

In Goodvalley we have our own feedmills where we prepare feed for our pigs. This way we can make sure our feed mix contains all of the natural components which are needed to keep our pigs healthy.
Our processed products are always witout any preservatives. Only by controlling all stages of the production, we can take full responsibility for the quality of our meat.
In Goodvalley we have 36.500 hectares of land. We grow our crops by using degassed manure from our biogas plants. This way we cultivate our soil while taking care of the environment. We have wheat, barley, rape, corn, rye, sunflower and soy.
Our animal welfare standards are certified by GLOBALG.A.P. (Good Agricultural Practice) and we make sure that our pigs have the necessary space, toys available and the right people, who, care for them at every stage.
In our biogas plants we use waste products from all steps of the production. This way we generate heat and energy for our units while we use the degassed minerals as a valuable fertilizer on our fields. This process makes our production less invasive towards the climate.
It is important for us to harvest our fields by ourselves. This way we can control the harvesting proces and by using modern technology and equipment our machines are less invasive and less damaging to the environment.
