Goodvalley presents the 2020 Sustainability Report
2020 was in many ways a very different year; we saw the first global pandemic and we saw ASF in Germany for the first time. These factors put severe pressure on our organization as a whole, but we were proud to see that our company came together as one big team across all four countries and managed to protect both employees as well as the company.
Despite the difficult times, our sustainability efforts were still at the top of the agenda and we are once again corporate carbon neutral for the entire company. Like last year, our emissions and reductions are calculated by NIRAS and certified by TÜV Rheinland in accordance with ISO 14064. Emissions for 2020 are 227,726 tons of CO2-e and reductions are 242,927 tons of CO2-e. In 2020, we also saw 20% less work related accidents and we managed to use 6% less diesel per hectare cropped - with a landbank of 42.000 hectares this is a great achievement by our arable department.
As something new, we have added a small case on page 44, showing what the Goodvalley way of farming mean in practical terms, when we take over a new farm that is not sustainable yet.
In 2021, we will continue our sustainable efforts and finalize the foundation for three new biogas plants together with external partners, solidifying our commitment to the green agenda.
We hope that you will read our Sustainability Report and we look forward to 2021, when we get to show all the great new things that we are working on.
