Oriental spicy meatballs

4 persons – 45 minutes

Ingredients

400 g of minced Goodvalley pork ham

about 800 ml of canned tomatoes

1 onion

2 cloves of garlic

1 small piece of ginger

1 teaspoon of cumin

1 egg

1/4 teaspoon of ground coriander

a piece of chilli

a big bunch of coriander

salt and pepper, freshly ground

rapeseed oil

Finely cube the onion and add half to the minced meat. Season the meat with salt, pepper and a half of teaspoon of cumin. Add the egg and mix well.

In a pan, the heat oil. Roll the meat into small round portions and fry them until golden.

In a separate pot, add a small amount of olive oil. Fry the rest of the onion with the finely grated ginger and pressed garlic for a while. Remove the seeds from the chilli and finely chop it. Add it to the pot. Season with the rest of the cumin and ground coriander. Add the canned tomatoes. Mix together and season with salt and pepper to taste. Wait until the mixture boils.

Gently add the fried meatballs to the sauce and cook on a low heat for 30 minutes.

Garnish the meatballs with fresh coriander before serving.

The oriental meatballs can be served in any way; they are ideal with boiled potatoes and home-made cucumber salad, and also more sophisticated accompaniments.
